Kerry's mistakes

SF Gate Every time I find a reason to shake my head in disbelief over the actions of some San Francisco politician -- Barbara Boxer, Nancy Pelosi, Barbara Lee, John Burton, Gavin Newsome, etc. -- and how the Bay Area is hopelessly out of touch with the mainstream, Debra Saunders comes to the rescue.

Not necessarily a conservative columnist covering a political beat, the best description of Saunders I can offer is the one found on her Townhall.com bio page: "In a world full of labels, Saunders is herself. A one-time registered Democrat turned Republican, she claims no loyalty to either party and takes pride in her unpredictability and irreverence for big-party politics."

I mostly find myself in agreement with Saunders' opinions, and hopefully, she'll cause a few Nob Hill liberals to do the same.

At any rate - her commentary today affirms that she is out there fighting the good fight, fostering thoughtful consideration on the political issues of the day. Today Saunders takes John Kerry to task for his continually talking down the war effort. In her own words, "...once John Kerry voted to authorize that war, he assumed an obligation to do everything in his power to win it. Instead, he has spent months undermining the coalition in order to bolster his own career. "

Converting those Nob Hill liberals is perhaps too much to hope for, but as long as she continues thought-provoking columns such as today's, maybe I shouldn't write off SF just yet.

Yet.
