New York Daily News: The article reports that Whoopi Goldberg was canned by Slim Fast for her rude and lewd comments about the President at John Kerry's NYC fundraiser. Whoopi is quoted saying, "America's heart and soul is freedom of expression without fear of reprisal."
Somebody needs to enlighten these shallow Hollywood liberals about what rights and freedoms they really have. Just because so many people suck up and kiss their backsides, any time they receive pushback on their narrow political views, they cry out in indignation.
Well Whoopi, your statement is dead wrong. Your right to freedom of speech does not protect you from reprisal. If someone is paying you a lot of money to endorse a product, and you engage in questionable activity -- it's a pretty good chance that company is not going to want you to endorse their product anymore. How many endorsement deals do you see Courtney Love getting out there? As the nation becomes more and more divided by red states and blue states, why would a business want to align themselves with someone whose personal views could cut their potential customer base by 50%?
Hey Whoopi -- say what you want. But when you do, and my choice is spending $8 to watch either your movie or Gigli, I'm likely to pick the movie that's not yours.
P.S. to Hollywood: Would at least some of you have the courtesy to shut your yaps when it comes to your political views? It's getting so damn hard to see a movie that I don't feel like I have to boycott in principle because one of you ignorant liberal yahoos is starring in it.
