Letterman's Monologue After 9-11

Watching this clip from Late Night with David Letterman (from 9/17/01) reminded me of how we all felt at that time, and how we all came together as a nation united by tragedy...but for only a brief moment.

Sadly, Americans have short attention spans. Political unity quickly gave way to partisan bickering and opportunism. But for that one moment, we were unified in purpose and mission.
