Inadvertant Sloppiness

I heard Sandy Berger's attorney on the radio the other day.  He must be getting paid for each time he uses the word "inadvertant" in Berger's defense.  He must have used it 3 times in a 15-second sound bite.

So, according to this attorney's position, Berger "inadvertently" stuffed into his pants documents and related notes that he was not permitted to take from the archives; "inadvertently" didn't notice he had the papers when he got home and reviewed them; and "inadvertently" threw away some of these same files.

The attorney shrugs this off as "sloppiness."  Yeah -- that's a brilliant defensive position.

On another note, his concealment of his document theft from John Kerry is pretty interesting.

Berger knew that the FBI was examining him since last fall.  Did he actualy tell Kerry that he was the subject of a criminal probe by the Justice Department and the FBI? I'd have to say no -- While I don't like him, I can't deny that Kerry is politically astute.  Had he known about this, I doubt he would have kept Berger around.

So if Kerry didn't know, what does this say about Berger?
