Academy snubs Moore

My Way News

Michael Moore's gamble to hold his hit film "Fahrenheit 9/11" out of the documentary category - to boost its best-picture prospects - backfired. The movie was shut out across the board.

Moore earlier was the "winner" of the People's Choice Award for Best Picture by convincing hand-wringing liberals that by voting for his film, it was the best way to protest President Bush's victory last November. The People's Choice Awards are selected by public voting on the Internet. Moore blanketed liberal websites begging for their votes. He was the quintessential Prom Queen who campaigned with every ounce of strength, and then sqealed with mock surprise when his name was read.

It's nice to see the Academy eschew politics. . . It's something you don't often see coming out of Hollywood.
